CCS and CCUS

Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) and Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) are the systems that play a crucial role in reducing carbon emissions from high-polluting industries. The former process enables the capture and storage of CO2 that is emitted during the combustion of various chemical processes, while the latter not only captures CO2 but also utilizes it in various industrial processes, such as cement, biofuel, and plastic production, as well as in oil and gas upstream and midstream processes.

Developing CCS and CCUS plants is part of Atlantic Energy and Infrastructure's scope of operation. Its endeavors in this domain aim to significantly reduce CO2 emissions from several high-polluting industrial plants, including conventional power plants, gray hydrogen production plants, steel and cement factories, waste-to-energy, and petrochemical plants.

Despite the high level of their carbon emissions, the aforesaid industrial plants remain crucial.  The company's CCS and CCUS solutions enable the above industrial plants to manage their emissions better, comply with increasingly stringent carbon cap restrictions and ESG standards, and stay operational.

Moreover, integrating CCS and CCUS plants into its conventional power plants, hydrogen production plants, and hydrocarbon processing plants adds environmental value to its solutions, making them more sustainable in the long run.

AEI's participation in developing CCS and CCUS plants helps satisfy the rising demands for these solutions, which are decisive for decarbonizing the current fossil fuel industries.
