THE OIL INDUSTRY
Crud oil retains its position as the global primary energy source, affording high-energy-density fuel to power a diverse array of industries, predominantly the transportation and power industries, as well as heating systems in residential and industrial contexts.
At Atlantic Energy and Infrastructure, we are acutely aware of and value NetZero's significance in the fight against climate change. However, the possibility of pulling oil and gas out of the energy portfolio seems impractical, at least in the short and medium term. Moreover, while it is likely that the oil market and demand profile may change in light of the energy transition, there is still uncertainty surrounding marketability and bankability, particularly regarding crude oil and its products, in the medium to long term.
Nonetheless, crude oil serves not only as fuel but also as the primary feedstock for producing an extensive range of petroleum derivatives that are in high demand and hold considerable value. Additionally, petroleum products, such as natural gas liquids and naphtha, are utilized as feedstock for petrochemicals that are instrumental in many industries as well as the energy transition.
Taking into consideration the aforementioned, and particularly the growing need for oil and petrochemical products, the development of the oil industry still sounds necessary, feasible, and economically viable. Accordingly, AEI engages in developing oil industry projects with a focus on the midstream and downstream sectors.
In the midstream area, it invests in and develops oil transmission and storage facilities comprising pipelines, pump stations, and storage and terminal facilities to facilitate the transportation and storage of crude oil and its products. In the downstream sector, it develops refinery and petrochemical plants, either separately or integrally, in the form of refinery petrochemical integrated plants.
AEI's approach involves properly addressing the environmental concerns that arise from its operation in the oil industry while satisfying the increasing demands for energy as well as petroleum and petrochemical products. By taking such an approach, AEI underscores its commitment to helping alleviate the environmental and supply security concerns that are greatly significant in a delicately balanced manner.
